Sustainable Cities &
Human Settlements Award

On the occasion of The United Nations Conference on Housing & Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat III) and its associated event, the 11 Global Forum on Human Settlements (GFHS – XI) which took place in Quito, Ecuador, October 18, 2016, Taziry has been awarded the Sustainable Cities & Human Settlements Award, and commendation of “Global Human Settlements Model of Building (Residential Area)” supported by the United Nations Environment Program.

COP 22

Urban & Rural Areas Resilience Programme. Oasis Cities. Adaptation of COP21 Paris Agreement: This Programme aims to evaluate existing oasis cities and their symbiosis with rural areas in order to propose solutions for economic growth, jobs capacity and resilience building.

The project goal is to create viable and alternative livelihood strategies for oases inhabitants while protecting and conserving the biodiversity and cultural knowledge. Sustainable solutions for oases eco-systems and urbanism as well as linkages will be evaluated.

Phase 1 of the project is to be focused on socio-economic assessment of four oasis cities: Marrakech (Morocco), Siwa Oasis (Egypt), Nizwa (Oman) and Liwa Oasis (United Arab Emirates) leading to demonstration projects in Phase 2 for each city.

The Egyptian Date Palm Festival

Taziry has partnered with the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm & Agricultural Innovation to organize the Egyptian Date Palm Festival in Siwa, which has seen its 3rd edition this past November 2017, under the patronage of his highness President Abdel Fattah El Sisi & his highness Sheikh Mansour Al Nahyan, ruler of Abu Dhabi. This event has boosted the date sector industry in Egypt and is presenting huge opportunities of growth to small and big farmers, as well as all stakeholders in the industry. This event has promoted the Egyptian palm dates on the international scale, with emphasis on Siwa Oasis through combined efforts between the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, and key development partners such UNIDO & FAO:
